Bitumen in different grades is used for road maintenance and construction. It is necessary to temporarily reduce its viscosity by heating before it is put to use. Bitumen emulsion helps to avoid the requirement of heating since they are ready to use products.

The following grades & sub grades of Cationic Bitumen Emulsion will be produced as per IS 8887:2004 specifications.

• Bitumen Emulsion Rapid Setting
• Bitumen Emulsion Medium Setting
• Bitumen Emulsion Slow Setting
• Cut back Bitumen

In Bitumen up gradation process water, emulsifiers, Chemicals , Polymers & Crumbed rubber is mixed & in totality whole process is simple & clean .

 

following grade Modified Bitumen are  popular :

1. Penetration grade Majority grade used for Roads & characterized by Penetration & softening point.

2. Oxidized & Hard Bitumen are Industrial grade Bitumen & known by their softening point & Penetration.

a. Oxidised Bitumen used for Industrial purpose for Roofing, Flooring, Mastics, Pipe coating, Paints etc. ,defined as softening point & penetration grade as 85/ 40 i.e. 85 deg C is softening point & 40 is penetration.

b. Hard Bitumen: Prefix with H and known as softening & Penetration points as H80/90 etc.

3. Cut back Bitumen Is produced by blending 70/100 or 160/220 Grade Bitumen with Kerosene & used for Road construction & characterized by its Viscosity 50, 100,200 sec. Mostly used for surface dressing., some time used with suffices X indicates that it has doped with specially formulated heat stable agent.
